Dear Julianna, Brent, and Baby Gabe,

This is now the third time I have had the privilege of photographing you. And amazingly, somehow each session with you keeps getting better. Gabe, you are so loved. Your arrival was much anticipated, and both your mom and dad are glowing with pride and joy. Thank you so much for letting me into your homes, and lives.

Cheers to you all,

Top 10 Getting Ready

Alabama

For the groom, the time they spend getting ready is brief.  The actual process of getting ready is not long: pants and shirts, perhaps a vest, a tie, shoes, and then the jacket. The most challenging part is without question the boutonniere. He is with his friends there are jokes, affirms slaps on the back and shakes of the hand, a few nervous laughs, and a shrug of the shoulders to shake off the nerves.

For the bride, it is entirely different. There is a quite, nervous energy. No mirror is needed to get ready; she knows how everything is going to sit, how it will feel, how it will look. When she does turn to see herself, it’s not out of criticism, but out of reflection. All the planning is about to pay off, and moments she has to see herself is a time to pause before the festivities begin.

Chandler + Carew | Engagement | Private Estate, West Point, MS

engagement

Dear Chandler + Carew,

I’m at a loss of words when it comes to your engagement session. Sure,  I could talk about the beauty of the locations that speak for themselves, the chill that reddened cheeks and encouraged more cuddles. But more than that, what comes to mind is the love and care you have not only for one another, but for all you interact with. It’s so evident by how overwhelmed with joy people are for the two of you, how excited they are for the two of you to become husband and wife. That speaks volumes to me, and having to honor of photographing your first portraits together, well…. I cannot thank you enough for that. I so enjoyed our time together. I felt more like a gathering of friends, than a meeting with clients.

Cheers to you both, and wishing you the Merriest of Christmases!

Nikki
