MSU Chapel of Memories + The Hewlett Stables Wedding | Starkville, MS | Savannah + Marq

Mississippi

Dear Savannah + Marq,

I think I will be hard pressed to find a couple who is as quick to laugh and have a good time as you two are.  All day the two of you were bubbling over with delight. When you finally joined hands at the alter, the joy was palpable. I hope your wedding day was everything you dreamed it would be, and that your long awaited honeymoon was the trip of a lifetime.

Cheers to you both,

Nikki (more…)

Glacier National Park Wedding | Kalispell, Montana | Julie + Danny

Northwest

Dear Julie + Danny,

There were about a hundred things that made your wedding so wonderful: multiple gorgeous locations, a fun loving bridal party, and wonderful couple. But for me what made it so special was how your wedding was pulled together by your closet family and friends. From all over the world, your loved ones rallied together to build a dance floor, craft homemade pasta, and run the dozens of little errands that are a part of every wedding. It was truly an honor to photograph such a heartfelt celebration, and I hope your first few weeks of married life have been a dream.

Much love to you both,

Nikki

Hewlett Barn | Starkville, MS Wedding | Natalie + Brad

Mississippi

Dear Natalie and Brad,
Even though the heat was sweltering, the two of you were as cool as cucumbers. There was so drama, no moments of panic, just delight at pledging your lives to each other in front of your closest family and friends. Thank you so much for allowing me to be the one to document your beautiful wedding.  I hope your first few weeks together have been all you hoped they would be and more.
Cheers to you,
Nikki

MSU Chapel of Memories + The GridIron | Starkville, MS Wedding | Taylor + Adam

Mississippi

Dear Taylor + Adam,

Working with the two of you was such a delight. Taylor, you could not have been more easy going. Even though the it poured the morning of your wedding, and the weeks leading up to it had been absolutely insane, you remained calm, cool, and collected throughout the whole day. And Adam, your whole face lit up once you saw Taylor for the first time. Your day was truly beautiful, and I am honored to have been able to document such a momentous occasion.  I hope your first few weeks as husband and wife have been absolutely beautiful.

Cheers to you both,

Nikki

Jiggetts Home Wedding | Canton, Mississippi | Grace + Thomas

photography

Dear Grace + Thomas,

I feel rather at a loss for words when I think of what to say about your wedding. To say it was familial does not describe the tenderness. To say it was simple does not explain the thoughtfulness. What set the tone for your day was love, love for God, love for each other, love for one another. And that made it all the sweeter to be a part of. I hope you have enjoyed every minute as husband and wife, and I cannot thank you enough for letting me be a part of your joyous union.

Cheers to you both,

Nikki

Engagement Session | Columbus Riverwalk | Savannah + Marq

engagement

Dear Savannah + Mark,

I don’t think our time  during your engagement session could have gone any better. The sunlight encompassed the two of you as you laughed and loved in one anther’s arms. We talked of movies, both good and not so good ones, and favorite foods. You told me how you were planning a graduation party, and of your two beloved dogs. Our time together made me even more excited for your wedding day.  I know it will be a wonderful celebration.

Until then,

Nikki

Bryanna + Brandon | Macon, Mississippi Wedding

Mississippi

Dear Bryanna + Brandon,

Your wedding is one that I will never forget. Even though the church was crowded as the two of you pledged your lives to one another, the atmosphere was that of close family gathering. Bryanna, you were radiating as you walked down the aisle to see Brandon for the first time. And your mom said over and over again that she wouldn’t have been able to give you away to anyone else except Brandon.

I hope your first few weeks of husband and wife together have been blissful.

Cheers to you,

Nikki

Best of Weddings 2016 | Bride + Groom Portraits

Alabama

The photos I ended up loving the most were the ones that speak to who the bride and groom are both collectively and individually. I find that in some ways, the setting is neither here nor there. It’s all about them, and their chemistry. The quite sereneness of a groom as he held his bride, the adoration in her face. A quiet moment of relief, of realization for all the has occurred, and a joyous anticipation for what will. A kiss of delight, of passion, and merriment. The act of leading, of supporting, of following. All these couples portrayed the beauty that makes a marriage that wonder that it is.

Top 10 Getting Ready

Alabama

For the groom, the time they spend getting ready is brief.  The actual process of getting ready is not long: pants and shirts, perhaps a vest, a tie, shoes, and then the jacket. The most challenging part is without question the boutonniere. He is with his friends there are jokes, affirms slaps on the back and shakes of the hand, a few nervous laughs, and a shrug of the shoulders to shake off the nerves.

For the bride, it is entirely different. There is a quite, nervous energy. No mirror is needed to get ready; she knows how everything is going to sit, how it will feel, how it will look. When she does turn to see herself, it’s not out of criticism, but out of reflection. All the planning is about to pay off, and moments she has to see herself is a time to pause before the festivities begin.
