Starkville, MS | Newborn Session | Baby Hank

family

Sweet Baby Hank,

You are darling. You truly are. I still cannot believe how calm and relaxed you were throughout your photo shoot. Undoubtedly, it is due to the tender love you receive from your sweet mama, the steady care of your dad, and the not always gentle but loving attention you receive from your big brother. 🙂 Mark, Laura, Holt, and Hank, thank you so much for allowing me into your home! I so enjoyed our time together and wish you all the best.

Cheers,

Nikki

North Farm | Starkville, MS Engagement Session | Hannah + Jacob

engagement

Dear Hannah + Jacob,

Thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your engagement session. My time with you, though brief and wrapped in heat, was so lovely. You two are splendid together. Your love and adoration for one another flows from you, with each hug, tender kiss, and touch of the hand. I love how you choose fields of cotton for your location; how it’s a part of who you are as a couple. I wish you all the best, and hope your last few months before you become husband and wife are swift and sweet.

Cheers to you both,

Nikki

Meadowview Baptist Church + The Hunter Henry Center | Starkville, MS Wedding | Taylor + Montana

Mississippi

Dear Taylor + Montana,

Your wedding day had the type of loveliness a day can only have when surrounded by one’s dearest friends and loved ones. It was a beautiful celebration, a joining of souls that touched all who participated deeply.  Taylor, you were nothing short of radiant as you made your way down the aisle to Montana. And Montana, as you pledged you life to Taylor, your eyes shone with love, pride, and joy.

Thank you so much for allowing me to document your day, and the very beginning of your life together.  I wish you nothing but the best.

Cheers,

Nikki

Meridian, MS Wedding | First Presbyterian Church + Soulé Steam Feed | Tori + Jon

photography

Tori + Jon,

I am finding the words I have to describe your wedding to be so completely inadequate. Your celebration was so overwhelmed by love and adoration that even without a beautiful church, stunning clothes, and magnificent flowers, the day still would have been beautiful. What made it beautiful was the way family members came from all over, and how friends gathered from here and there, and spread jubilation to all. Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting me a part of it.

Cheers to you,

Nikki

Destin, Florida

personal

It was just us. There was some nostalgia along with since we were returning to the place that was our first real vacation when we were dating, as well as our first trip as couple. We ate at our favorite restaurants both nights, slept late, and sat in the sand. It was exactly the getaway we needed. (more…)

Navigating The Ins & Outs of Family Photos

real-wedding

As a photographer, I’ve interacted with hundreds of family members. Some family members are thrilled to be at the wedding and want to do everything than can to help, some are resentful because they aren’t getting married, and still others are kinda “yeah, I’m hear….someone pass me a beer….” Navigating all of the dynamics can be overwhelming to the point where some brides want to skip the family photos all together. And to to be honest, I get it. However, taking family photo is SO important, especially at weddings. The day is not only about the bride and groom becoming one and starting a new union, but also about the blending of families. My goal as a photographer is do everything I can to help eliminate the stress and tension that can arise on a wedding day, particularly with family photos. I’ve found that by sharing these few tips (and brides implementing them!), the day can be much better for everyone.
